WHY STUDY PORTUGUESE?
 An Iberian Romance language, originating in Portugal, Portuguese is now the official language of 10 countries on three continents. There are more than 213 million native Portuguese speakers around the globe, making it the fifth most widely spoken language in the world. Many other languages have adopted pieces of the Portuguese vocabulary as well, including Japanese, Indonesian, Malay and Tetum.
